Joy

Most of you have seen the news on twitter or facebook already. That the Babe can stay with us.

Taylor went to the trial (though he wasn’t allowed in the court room, as it happened), and the judge ruled in our favor. The birth mother, her mother, and the agency folks all showed up, but apparently the birth father (or anyone from his family) was not there at all. His parental rights are officially terminated.

So that’s it. Mostly. There is a 30 day period in which the decision can be appealed, but it is unlikely that anyone will do that, since the birth father didn’t show up. I guess we won the waiting game.

I know you all want to see pictures of her sweet face–and we can hardly blame you, really 🙂 but we will, at least, wait until the possibility of appeal has expired. Possibly longer. We will see. I know it’s hard to wait, but I know you understand, too.

This is the relief we have been waiting for for so long. This is the cathartic release of the heavy clouds that have followed us for so much of this process. There has been sunshine, no doubt, but now that the rain has come we feel the breath come easier. We feel the joy that’s been waiting for us.

And we are at peace.

And we will be one.
