Wishing You Warmth

for the holidays.

After my father’s mother died, her children were going through her household and my aunt came across a few dozen quilt squares Grammy had made but never quilted. Grammy and I shared a love of sewing, but I never got into quilting much. It seemed silly to me to cut up perfectly good material only to sew it back together again. (Yes, I know I made a quilt already, but that was already scrap material!)

And so, these (lovely) quilt squares from Grammy sat in my sewing pile for.. years.

Until this Christmas, when I decided to make a quilt for Taylor. He loves quilts. I I didn’t get in done in time to put it under the tree for Christmas morning, but I did finish it before the 12 days were up!

It’s a pretty crazy quilt, but he’s a pretty crazy husband, too ๐Ÿ™‚

And it’s pretty cozy. I double-layered the wool batting. Big enough for lots of snuggling, big enough to cover our whole bed, even with a squiggly toddler in the middle fluffing the covers on and off.

So all in all, I’d say it’s been a win.

Right? I watched Momma make a few quilts, and I’ve made three in my life (one total crazy-quilt, odd size patches, etc), one strips, and this one. It’s fun, but I don’t think I could start from scratch. They are super cozy, though ๐Ÿ™‚
